The handle of the TICA Wily WL 9000 reel is ambidextrous. To attach, screw the handle into the desired side of the reel body (either left or right) until it is securely fastened. Ensure it is tightened sufficiently to prevent wobbling during use.
2. Spooling Fishing Line
- Secure the reel to a fishing rod.
- Thread the fishing line through the rod guides, starting from the tip.
- Tie the line to the reel spool using an arbor knot or similar secure knot.
- Begin winding the line onto the spool, maintaining slight tension to ensure even and tight wraps. Fill the spool to approximately 1/8 inch from the rim to prevent line overflow.
3. Adjusting Drag Tension
The drag system is located on the front of the spool. Turn the drag knob clockwise to increase tension (LESS DRAG TENSION MORE) and counter-clockwise to decrease tension. Adjust the drag based on the breaking strength of your fishing line and the target fish species. A good starting point is to set the drag to about 25-30% of your line's breaking strength.

Maintain constant tension on the line. Use the drag system to allow the fish to take line when it pulls hard, preventing line breakage. Pump the rod up and reel down to gain line effectively.
