Gardner Bender AMT-4113 Xtreme Environment Spade Terminal Instruction Manual

1. Продукт закончилсяview

The Gardner Bender AMT-4113 Xtreme Environment Spade Terminals are designed for reliable electrical connections in demanding conditions. These terminals feature heat-shrink insulation with a heat-activated adhesive that melts and flows to create a waterproof seal. This design protects wire connections from pullout, moisture, and abrasion, making them resistant to salt water, oil, gasoline, and other environmental contaminants. They are suitable for 16-14 AWG wires and #8 - 10 stud sizes.

Основные характеристики:

  • Heat-activated adhesive creates a waterproof seal.
  • Designed for 16-14 AWG wire and #8 - 10 stud size.
  • Rated for 600-volts maximum for building wiring and 1,000-volts maximum for signs and fixtures.
  • Temperature rating of 221 degrees Fahrenheit (105 degrees Celsius).
  • UL and CSA safety listings.

2. Инструкция по установке

Follow these steps for proper installation of the Gardner Bender AMT-4113 Spade Terminals to ensure a secure and waterproof connection.

  1. Подготовьте провод: Strip approximately 3/8 to 1/2 inch of insulation from the end of your 16-14 AWG wire. Ensure the copper strands are clean and untwisted.
  2. Insert Wire into Terminal: Insert the stripped end of the wire fully into the metal barrel of the spade terminal. Ensure no stray wire strands are outside the barrel.
  3. Inserting wire into spade terminal with crimping tool

Image 2: A wire being inserted into the blue heat-shrink spade terminal, held by a crimping tool set to the appropriate wire gauge.

  4. Зажмите терминал: Using a proper crimping tool, select the correct crimp die for 16-14 AWG insulated terminals. Place the terminal's metal barrel into the crimping tool and firmly squeeze the handles until the crimp is complete. A good crimp will securely hold the wire without damaging the insulation sleeve.
  5. Crimping spade terminal onto wire

Image 3: A crimping tool fully closed around the blue heat-shrink spade terminal, securing the wire connection.

  6. Apply Heat-Shrink: Apply heat evenly to the blue insulation sleeve of the terminal using a heat gun or a suitable heat source. Move the heat source continuously to avoid overheating one spot. The insulation will shrink and the internal adhesive will melt and flow, creating a tight, waterproof seal around the wire and the terminal. Continue heating until the insulation is snug and the adhesive is visible at the ends of the sleeve.
  7. Проверьте соединение: Allow the terminal to cool completely before handling. Gently tug on the wire to ensure the connection is secure. Visually inspect the heat-shrink for a uniform seal.

3. Операция

Once properly installed and heat-shrunk, the Gardner Bender AMT-4113 Spade Terminal provides a secure and environmentally protected electrical connection. The spade end is designed to be connected to a screw terminal or stud of the appropriate size (#8 - 10). Ensure the connection point is clean and free of corrosion for optimal conductivity. Tighten the screw or nut firmly to secure the spade terminal in place, but do not overtighten, which could damage the terminal or the connection point.

4. Техническое обслуживание

These spade terminals are designed for a long-lasting, maintenance-free connection once properly installed. Regular maintenance is generally not required. However, for critical applications or in harsh environments, periodic visual inspection of the connection points is recommended to ensure the integrity of the heat-shrink seal and the mechanical connection. If any damage to the insulation or corrosion is observed, the connection should be replaced.

5. Поиск Неисправностей

  • Loose Connection After Crimping: If the wire pulls out of the terminal after crimping, the crimp may not have been firm enough, or the wrong crimp die was used. Ensure your crimping tool is set to the correct size for 16-14 AWG insulated terminals and apply sufficient pressure.
  • Insulation Not Sealing Properly: If the heat-shrink insulation does not form a tight, waterproof seal, insufficient heat may have been applied, or the heat was not applied evenly. Reapply heat with a heat gun, ensuring even distribution until the adhesive flows and the sleeve is snug.
  • Terminal Does Not Fit Wire Gauge: Verify that your wire is within the specified 16-14 AWG range. Using wires outside this range may result in a poor connection or inability to properly crimp.
  • Terminal Breaks During Crimping: This can occur if excessive force is used, or if the crimping tool is misaligned. Ensure the terminal is properly seated in the crimping tool before applying pressure.
